As the name suggests Lean-to Conservatories appear to lean onto the host building, they are relatively simple structures and they don’t need to take up much space.
Traditional Sun-Lounges or Lean-To Conservatories are one of the most economical ways to add extra space to your home as it utilises the existing wall of your home. The lean-to suits all styles and ages of property although they are particularly well suited to homes where space is limited or where you don’t want to lose too much of the garden area.
Lean-to conservatories also work well for homes with low ceilings or where there is restricted space under the eaves, as the pitch of the roof can be tailored to suit the property. This would work particularly well on a bungalow for example.
The lean-to conservatory has a flat, angled roof that slopes downwards, allowing the rainwater to run off, giving the structure the appearance of ‘leaning’ against the house, hence the name. Adding hipped ends to the roof can give the conservatory a more contemporary look.
Choose floor to ceiling glazing to provide maximum light or a dwarf wall providing a little more privacy as well as window ledges on the interior. You can even choose full height brick pillars on the corners to give a more cosier feel to your new room.
Depending on the position of your garden and the intended use for your new lean-to garden room you can choose from five different roof styles. The most cost effective is the High Specification Polycarbonate Roof. If you are looking to keep your conservatory warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, you might consider a solar reflective glass roof which has the added benefit of being self-cleaning. For a conservatory which feels more like a room you have three solid roof options.
